I am a singer/songwriter. I have produced an audio CD of my songs. I don’t have a recording contract with a major or minor record company. I have heard of musicians selling such a great amount of music on line that when they are then after approached by a record company they decline because they have found it unnecessary to give up a major portion of their revenues to a middle (record co.) man. Or they opt for a distribution contract with a record company. Also how can I effectively get my music on the internet heard by a great number of people? A video of one the most commercial songs from the CD will also be ready for release soon. For You Tube and…? Hope you can help. Thanks in advance for whatever info you have for me.

MySpace has been gaining ground as a decent way to get music out there, but unless you’re counting on pressing CDs to keep up with possible demand, they don’t seem to be all that ‘lucrative’ unless you’re spotted and signed by a major, which seems to be what you want to avoid.
