Question by Shane Foley: What are some good jobs that deal with music or movies or both?
I’m not really looking for one answer, but maybe suggestions. Pretty much I love music and movies, and I want to get involved with them. I don’t want answers like, “be in a band!” or “be an actor!” because I’m not outgoing or talented enough for that. What jobs are behind the scenes? Maybe a little technical? Thank you =)

It is really difficult to say as you haven’t indicated what your job background is or what you may like doing as the work on films is VERY diverse.
If you have office job experience you may be able to get a job in the production office as an office PA (production assistant) where you help with the paperwork for the producers and learn a lot about the business side of filmmaking. If you are an accountant, you can help with the crew pay rolls.
If you are a good electrician, you might be able to get something at the backstage to help with electricals and after a few years of experience may go up to the gaffer and grip department.
For sound, camera, editing, visual effects and all, you need standard training.
One of the best things to do is to call film schools and tell them that you are willing to be a PA on the set for them. Film students don’t mind if you don’t have film experience and you can build your resume so you may be on more serious films later.
