Should I Pursue Music or Architecture?

Question by Perkise: Should I Pursue Music or Architecture?
Okay .. I am from a Caribbean Island where local music isn’t really that pushed unless it’s soca.. I am currently pursuing Architectural Studies but its not my passion.. -_- .. When i sat and ask myself what can I sit and do for 6 hours .. its everything Music .. i been playing the piano from age 6 im now 18 .. i have ABRSM grades for the Trumpet also have a couple for Theory exams aswell .. i am a songwriter .. singer.. rapper…producer .. i performed on a couple stages in my country some major shows and some school shows .. funny thing is Music Business is a “gamble” game of chance .. but Architecture is a set job until i retire.. but my heart is not there .. i am thinking about studying Music Management and Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music .. what do you guys think? Music (heart) or Architecture (Mind) .. .. all advice is accepted 🙂

I would have to say to go with what your heart says. If you don’t you might regret it afterwards. I was in the same situation as you were two years ago. I decided to study Electrical Engineering in USC because it seemed like a safer option and because of pressure from family members. After two semesters of that I realized my heart was not into it and that my true call was music. Like you, I thought that the one thing that I could see myself doing with true devotion was music.
I changed my major two semesters ago – I could not possibly be happier now.
Ask yourself, what would you rather do: something you think will provide you safe money, or something you know will provide you happiness and satisfaction?

Still, this is only my call, and it is probably a biased one based on my own experience. Best of luck with your decision.
