Shane Stockton “Billy Saw The Light”

Kelly Shane Brooks (born March 18, 1974 in Breckenridge, Texas) is an American country music artist who recorded under the name Shane Stockton. Stockton released his debut album, Stories I Could Tell, on Decca Records in 1998. Stockton wrote every song on the release. He co-wrote one song, “I Didn’t Know” with publisher David Stephenson and producer Mark Wright. Stories I Could Tell produced two singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart: “What If I’m Right” at #54 and “Gonna Have to Fall” at #51. He also co-wrote the song “My Baby No Está Aquí” on Ty England’s 1998 album Highways & Dance Halls, a song which was later covered by Garth Brooks on his 2005 album The Lost Sessions. Stockton lost his recording contract in 1999 when Decca Nashville was merged into MCA Nashville and has not recorded since. Since leaving the country music business, Stockton took a job as a preacher in Lubbock, Texas. In 2009, Shane signed a contract to write songs for Carnival Music.
