Question by kitty: roommate is a slob even my ra can’t get her to clean up?
I share a tiny room with my roommate. I came from 2000 miles away so I only took my clothes, bed linens, and a computer. She brough so much stuff (cooler, 20 pairs of shoes, 30 hoodies, ironing board which she never puts away, random sparknotes books she’ll never use, a huge suitcase though she lives 20 mins away, two huge totes that are empty, a big chest full of food that she doesn’t eat…it just goes on) This stuff wouldn’t be bad but she didn’t bring anything to store it in, like she just dumps her clothes on the floor cuz she’s too lazy to put them away. I trip over her books every day and she blocked off the closet with her clothes.
I tried to have her clean with me but the problem is, she won’t get rid of her stuff or bring it home. She has a million excuses why she needs it but she doesn’t use it. Plus she keeps bringing more stuff and I need more space for my stuff. She’s also gross, I have to take out her class cuz she just won’t until it stinks so bad. She leaves out bowls of ramen for days and she says she’s still gonna eat them….
My RA told her to clean up and she sorta did but a few hours later it was a mess again. I feel like I can tell her to do something over and over and she’ll do it but then she’ll undo it. Like I’ll tell her to take her phone off speaker and then two minutes later she’ll put it back on speaker again. She also doesn’t turn off the light at night even when I’m sleeping cuz she insists on doing hw in bed rather than at her desk.
Oh and she takes hour long showers even though everyone in my suite yells at her and she blasts country music even when I tell her to turn it off or use headphones and she hits the snooze button like 5 times in the morning. She violates our contract but there’s no penalties so she just keeps doing it.
I feel like ive been trying really hard and I just am giving up. I’m going to buy organizing stuff just to organize HER STUFF or it will never get done and I feel like it’s not my responsibility.
This girl just doesn’t have social graces, like idk where she grew up but she’s wacko.
Any ideas?
The advisor is coming tonite, but she knows that so she cleaned up, but it’ll be bad later
our advisor is hard to get a hold of cuz he’s busy so we have to plan it and therefore my roommate knows
