Q&A: Can a music publisher be the same as a book publisher?

Question by soul manager: Can a music publisher be the same as a book publisher?
I’ve establised a publishing company – but so far it’s a music publisher. I want to know if that same publishing arm also can be named as a book publisher – or does it have to be a seperate company? If not, what makes them able to publish different art and If so, why would they have to be separate?

You can have both under the same banner. Each would be a different subdivision. If this is serious, you do need to get yourself some legal advice regarding incorporation of the company, trademark and copyrights.
