Q&A: Buying a business with outstanding contracts?

Question by xmelax34: Buying a business with outstanding contracts?
My boyfriend is considering buying an ‘electronic’ business from someone he knows. Some of the customers/ businesses they deal with have contracts with the current owner’s business. Would you say that he would have to honor those contracts (fixing, reparing, & parts) if he bought it from her? How would that work, since the current owner is essentually going out of business? Hope this question makes sense, sorry.
Thank you for any advice.

I believe you would have to. Unless you buy the business go out of business than reopen under the new name. even than I am not sure how well it would be to do that.
