Q&A: A certain major to get a music record label internship?
Question by kaitlyn: A certain major to get a music record label internship?
All of the internships I’ve looked at are basically for those majoring in business, management, marketing.. And any major related to music, really. Can someone with a different major (biology) from the ones above get an internship for a record label? Does it really matter what you major in, or is it the fact that you’re in college that really matters?

Unless you live in LA really, these internships are very hard to get. And even there, because downloading is wiping out the business model of the labels they are shedding people by the thousands, not hiring any more. There are thousands of record label people in LA and NYC that have had to find alternate work and would like very much to get back into the business. They are ahead of you.
Unless you have a sure fire way to restore the revenue of the labels getting an internship will be very hard.
