Must a Music Artist have Exclusive Rights to a Instrumental (beat) when submitting a demo to a record label?

Question by Business Affiliated: Must a Music Artist have Exclusive Rights to a Instrumental (beat) when submitting a demo to a record label?
I’m figuring just because its a demo it shouldn’t really matter. Since a demo is just a preview of the artist (rapper’s) true talent. Then when contracts start getting signed the artist buys new beats with the labels advance money. I don’t know help me out!!

Im not sure if it is mandatory but u dont wanna send the label a song on a beat they have heard a million times already u want them to hear original material. So its best to just buy beats for cheap. i am runnin an indie label if u need more info hit me up. oh yea and checc out my muzic if u get a chance www.myspace.com/northcoccit
