If I am starting my own business making DVD slideshows, how would I go about getting music usage rights? How do I contact the company? I have heard about paying royalties, any other information and/or websites would be very much appreciated! Thanks so much!

You would contact the publisher of the song through their rights agency (usually ASCAP or BMI) and the performer(s) through their record company or manager. If you can’t find the performers, their union is usually either AFTRA or AFM, and they might be able to help.
