Area losing Homeland Security funds
Buffalo-Niagara will lose out on $ 5.5 million in U.S. Homeland Security funding for disaster preparedness. The department announced Wednesday that, because of budget cuts, it will award shares of Urban Security Areas Initiative grant money to 31 metropolitan areas nationwide this year. Thirty more cities/metro areas including Buffalo-Niagara were notified they cannot apply for UASI funds.
