Iphone 3gs and Iphone 4 Questions?

I wanted to know a few things about the Iphone 3gs and Iphone 4.

1) Can you buy a Iphone 3gs or 4 without having a contract?
2) I use T-Mobile, so if I could buy a Iphone without a contract can I use my T-mobile plan instead of AT&T?
3)Which is the better one to get Compared in price, Coverage, Gigabites, and applications?

More Info:
I’m mainly going to be using the Iphone for pictures, music, Videos, calling, and occasionally using the internet. So I wanted to know which one would be best for these things.

I would definitely recommend the iPhone 4. I have had both and the 4 is amazing. You can buy a contract-free iPhone 4 at apple for $ 599 or $ 699. You could then jailbreak it and unlock it. Then you would be able to use it with T-mobile. Make sure you buy an AT&T iPhone 4 though, as the Verizon one is CDMA and would not work with T-mobile. Thanks
