I’m writing a musical revue. original script, published music. do i pay royalties for each song.?

Question by broadwayguy4: I’m writing a musical revue. original script, published music. do i pay royalties for each song.?
Its an original script, but the music is from already published musicals. Do i need to pay for the rights for each individual song? How would i do that? Company is not-for-profit, venue is very small. Legally, what do i need to do?

You need to realize that you will probably NEVER sell this thing. Are you kidding with this? Broadway and Hollywood don’t look to the novice for material. It’s VERY, VERY, VERY difficult to get into this field and if you will notice, Broadway is doing remakes of plays, and not paying for new works. Smaller venues are fairly full-up at this point. You don’t seem to have a clue as to what you are doing, and I don’t understand what you mean by paying for the rights to each song. If you wrote them why would YOU pay for the rights to them? Huh?!
