I’m considering signing up for the military, what branch would best be suited for me?

Question by Hope D: I’m considering signing up for the military, what branch would best be suited for me?
I’m a 24 y/o female. I’m currently in college and will graduate by the end of next spring. I was originally going to join the army because my hubby was enlisted at Ft. Campbell when we discussed it so that when we deployed we could go together. A CW3 in charge of the 101st band had given me his number and email and told me to give him a call once I decided to join because he wanted me in the band (I went to a college that he loved for the musicians they had put out). But, as of a year ago my hubby got out and I put the idea on the back burner. He recently started discussing the idea and option with me to enlist again when I received an email from the ROTC on my campus about perks. I’m confused, though, as to what branch would best be suited for me. I’m a liberal studies major (Mass Communication and music, drumset principal) and have two step kids who I have been the main provider for for the past year and a half. My hubby works for a company that does defense contracting…
and he does the UAV’s. He said until he has the opportunity to and finishes the teaching certification course for the UAV’s he wouldn’t move (he wants to make sure he could get a job that brings in close to the same income he does now) He thinks I should go with the Navy because when I deploy I would mainly be on a boat in the middle of water and not in direct fire like he was with the Army. Of course, deploying is a major concern for me since I had a hard time getting used to things when I first left home for college in another state. I also am not in the best shape at the moment so the idea of boot camp has me worried that I won’t do well. Would it be best to enlist now so I can go to bootcamp right after I graduate or should I wait?
What would be the best branch for me to go to? What should I do to prepare myself for boot camp?
***My hubby is no longer in…he is 60% disabled so he gets full disability from the army. He feels it would be stupid on his part to go back in given his being disabled, so he is serving by doing this defense contracting bit with UAV.

***I was actually told my height (4’9″) would be a problem if I joined the marines (and that was by a marine)…but the marines still call my mom’s house trying to recruit me since I took the ASVAB in the 2000-2001 school year (I was a HS junior). A recruiter also told me not to go marines…so I kind of ruled them out

Being a band member it wouldn’t make any difference as to what branch…pick one!
