Question by Curly3100: I’m an English major interested in writing. How can a non-experienced writer get started in this field?
I will be getting my English degree in another year. I don’t want to go into education/ teaching. I would like to write, edit, research, publish; to give you an idea. I’m interested in fashion, women’s issues, music, nutrition beauty and style. Idealy I would like to work for a magazine, or newspaper. My working experience is in sales, customer service, and social services. I don’t have any writing working experience what so ever, expect for what I write in school. Where can I look to at least get my foot in the door as a writer, researcher, ect. How do companies feel about non-experienced writers? The jobs I find call for experience writers only. Do you have any suggestions on how I can hone my writing skills and what positon could get me the experience I need to get started?

Write ebooks, articles and such and put them online. You can also sell your work to others looking for content. Just a couple of ideas.
