I uninstalled my sound/audio stuff?

Question by Emmalee: I uninstalled my sound/audio stuff?
So, I can’t hear anything playing at all.
It was an accident, by the way. I didn’t intentionally uninstall the needed software :P.
I’ve tried a few different things, and they haven’t worked.
I read on one site –

“Go to “Start”, “Control Panel”, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, click on “Device Manager” on the left hand side and look on the right hand side. See if you have a yellow exclamation next to the “Sounds, Video and Game Controllers”. If yes, double-click on the line with the exclamation and then click on the driver tab at the top. Click update driver and when it asks if you would like to to check the internet for updated drivers, tell it yes, this time only and continue. After this process, it should either download and install a new driver for your sound card or install the one that was shipped with your computer.”

That probably would have worked for me. I have the yellow exclamation marks and everything. But, when I went to reinstall the driver, it didn’t work. It said that the hardware couldn’t install because it didn’t have the necessary software.

Any ideas on what I can do…?
This is awful, not being able to listen to music and the like.

It’s not uncommon for it to not find any drivers. Have you tried going to update.microsoft.com? That site often detects your hardware and has drivers for it under optional hardware downloads or something. If you know what sound card you have, assuming you don’t have the CD it came with, I’d go to the manufacturer’s website to download the latest drivers.
