How do you write a resignation letter if you never actually started work there?

Question by Dream: How do you write a resignation letter if you never actually started work there?
I worked at a school as a contractor providing a service. Then they decided it was best to have me on payroll and I signed an employment contract. However when I dropped into the school the day before the contract started the school decided I was better off as a self employed contractor after all.

I’ve been told to write a letter of resignation. The templates I’ve found all have some complimentary things about the workplace ie I’ve enjoyed working here, positive experience etc.

However I

1. Am not really leaving as I’ve been here all along and still will be here. My status is simply changing.
2. Never actually did any work under the employment contract, so can’t really say how I’ve enjoyed working here etc etc.

In that case do I simply write the following?

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to inform [employer] of my resignation from the position of [position] at [school] This is with the knowledge and consent of the principal. Please let me know if there is anything else required in completing the resignation. Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,

I think your example is fine. They just want something with your signature on it as proof that you agree to the change.
