Forgotten Artist: La Costa ~ Get On My Love Train

La Costa Get on My Love Train No. 3, 1976 Writers: Noro Wilson, Chip Taylor Born La Costa Tucker on April 6, 1951 in Seminole, Texas, La Costa moved around frequently, as her father Beau Tucker was a construction worker. Beau Tucker had two daughters, La Costa and younger sister Tanya Tucker. The two worked together as members of the Country Westeners in Phoenix during the 1960s. La Costa won her first talent contest at age four. In-between entering beauty pageants and talent shows, she performed with Tanya. Shortly afterwards, La Costa cast her show biz ambitions to the side in favor of a career in medicine and only returned to music in 1972 after Tanya had hit the big time. La Costa graduated from Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona and began working as a medical records technician as she sang in clubs and became Miss Country Music, Phoenix. Tucker worked local clubs with her back-up group, The Stone Bridge Band, and La Costa began to build her career in music. At this time Tanya had made an impact on the Country music scene and was generating chart activity. Beau, who acted as her manager, helped La Costa secure a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1974. Her first chart record was I Wanna Get To You, which reached the Top 25. However, it was her follow-up single, Get On My Love Train, that solidified her success in the country music arena. The song reached No. 3 on the Billboard charts.
