My boyfriend has been trying to get a recording contract for about a year with his proir band. Now, it just so happens that my brother met with an old friend from high school that now works for a recording label industry. my boyfriend and i are really skeptical about this because they do not sound proffesional. Instead of asking the band to distribute a demo, with photo, band biography, etc… they asked to watch them perform at a studio which the band themselves had to arrange and pay for. After they played the man said he loved them and asked another man to come and meet them. They are telling the band that if they want to sign they will get them into bands in the jersey shore. Most bands at the nj shore play originals not covers. Then they said they will take that money and keep 20% , take 50% and put that away for them in a bank, and the band can split 30% between 4 guys. Then later they will send the demos to bigger labels, and the contract with them can be broken at any time..
another thing, is the webite for them isnt even valid and googling it and their names doesnt come up either. i dont know how to find out if they are for real or not or a waste of time. does anyone know anything about this?? also the name of this so called record label is unique management 1… please help before they trick the band to making a stupid mistake…they call themselves the step before the real record label industries and that they are the guys that get the demos heard. advice please 😉
scout… how can you help? are u also like the unique management? the band is in the process of finishing their demo.
they are an original band and have played hundreds of shows with their original music.

well its like this if your byfriend has a good band do they have a demo or album well with te artist we deal wit we get 20% and give the rest to the artist and they do what they feel wit it please we can try and help if we can scout
