Can a production company that books shows for bands, legally send a ticket contract to collections?

Question by scrudge1: Can a production company that books shows for bands, legally send a ticket contract to collections?
My band was supposed to play a show, but we had to cancel cause our drummer quit. I called the promoter/show booker, and told him what happened and that we need to cancel. We also did not sell any tickets yet so I asked if it would be cool to give them all the tickets back and cancel. He said no. I said what do you mean no? He was like you’d have to give us the ticket money or find another band to take your place and sell your 30 ticket minimum. I was like what if we just didn’t show up at all? He said that they would contact us to pay them the money and if we didn’t they would send it to collections. We signed a contract, but i don’t think it said we had to pay them the money if we didn’t play the show. I need someone with legal knowledge to help me out here! Can they do that, or is he just bluffing?

Of course they can, you signed a contract. Perhaps you should read it.
