This is a TRUE story. I heard this when I was camping with my church group many years ago:
There was a musician who was on a plane during a violent storm. The turbulence was out of contract and the plane started to go down. The musician on board was a devout atheist. He sat there and watched everyone else pray and thought about how foolish these people looked. He thought they were just talking to themselves.
Then, he looked down at his feet. It turns out a Bible had rolled from under the seat and it landed at his feet. The Bible was opened up to a specifice verse that had been underlined. He read that verse. It read John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” He looked at all the people praying that the plan wouldn’t crash and something happened. They no longer looked stupid. They looked okay with their fate because they put it in the hands of God. They looked FREE.
The musician prayed and he told Jesus that if he was real and if he accepted him if he would let this plane not crash. He prayed until the plane finally made an emergency landing. Jesus had saved the plane. The man was a member of a famous Christian rock band.
He sang about sex and drugs but now he sings about Jesus.

I think it’s a stupid propaganda story. Like the “And that student’s name was Albert Einstein” one.
Also, when people say “devout atheist” it cracks me up.
