20081231 – 2008 music graph – top 100 – SUPER DETAIL – 2wk – max zoom
music business

This is the super-detailed graph of everything we listened to in 2008. The resolution is 15607×2240. That’s 33 megapixels, way more than almost all cameras!

Basically, the Top 100 bands I listened to in 2008 are graphed at 2 week intervals, and normalized so the shape is approximately rectangular. I then hand-edited the labels to make them easier to read.

Most of our music habits were influenced by the 14 shows/15 bands we saw in 2008, and you can actually correlate the graph with the dates of the shows we went to. When we get tickets for a concert, we throw that band’s discography into our playlists until the concert. When the concert is over, it comes out of the playlist.

Concerts this year included:

1/5: Ozzy/Rob Zombie
1/23: Ween
1/24: Marilyn Manson (full of douchebags? – I had to pour my drink on some bitch)
2/4: Voltaire
4/19: Sabbat (together again after 16 yrs) (review of show)
4/26: Ministry (final tour)
5/18: Type O Negative
6/26: Dethklok (review of show)
10/10: Freezepop (review of show)
10/24: NoFX
11/5: Sisters Of Mercy (review of show)
11/28: They Might Be Giants (review of show)
12/13: Gene Ween Band (review of show)
12/14: GWAR (review of show)
