I applied to move into this apt. complex in Austin, Texas, I had to go through a background check (which I had to pay for). I was approved and moved in. About a week into my move my neighbors introduced themselves asking for a car jump and its all been downhill from there. One of them told me that he was a 6 time felon and brags about it, and another thing I found out is that most of the people living there are felons, not to mention the child molesters they have living there from time to time and visiting. Their company shows up at all times of the day and night with their music blasting and they hang out and sell drugs. I have complained to the management company about this and all I get is “we are working on it”, this has been going on 4 years and the management still haven’t done anything about this. It just gets worse. Please don’t tell me to move. I am sick of moving for someone else’s illegal activity. I need numbers to call to see what my rights are as a tenant and is the management liable for putting me in harms way. Can someone stir me in the right direction to who to call, lawyers, housing complaints, etc.

Each state has there tenant regulations and other issues I would start from there .
Sounds like a tough situation in my building where I live when I first moved in things were not bad then things began to go downhill with parties and loud music people knocking on my door to use phone.
I complained to owners of building as well as other tenants complained then owners finally got a manager that came in and cleaned house.
Got rid of all the trouble makers my building is much calmer now.
Try and find others in your building that are not felons and get together
and complain to owners about apt. manager not doing enough for the tenants.
