Dennie Mello Wailin’ Guitar

Fabulous, FABULOUS gem!! A note from Dennie Mello/Denny Mela: I was 14 when I wrote those songs along with many others. A scout from SWAN records heard me perform the slow one, solo with my accoustic guitar and asked my parents if they would be interested in bringing me by to a kind of battle of the bands thingy at a studio. There were about 6-8 soloists and duos with new material and I was asked at the end of it, to hang around. They asked if I had any other songs and I played “BLONDIE” for them. Two weeks later I was in a studio with a bunch of musicians that I didn’t know recording a record! My electric guitar was a birthday gift from my parents – a Fender Strat. I took it to the studio for the session but they gave me this giant Spanish acoustic to play, because of the few acoustic guitar breaks that you hear on the record. It was so big it wouldn’t fit in my lap to play! After some careful manuvering with another chair I was able to strum the monsterous thing and that is the big rhythm guitar sound that was on the record. They left a space in the middle of the song for a lead guitar part. We then recorded the flip side, “FORGET MY PAST” with background vocals and such in one shot. After everybody left, I recorded the lead guitar with my new guitar by overdubing the first take. 16 and 24 track studios were not yet available back then so they used two tape decks to accomplish the overdub task. An interesting fact about the session – a little known talent named BOBBY

Awesome masterpiece taken from the 2005 album ” Greenhouze ” GREENHOUZE: Solli (vocals) Lars Levin (bass, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) Additional musicians: Frank Tostrup (drums & percussion) Celio de Carvahlo (percussion) Leif Johansen (backing vocals) Drums samples played by Mike Sturgis In 1999 guitarist Lars Levin (SECOND HEAT, Session musician, producer) was recording a bunch of songs he had written the latest years. Solli (SONS OF ANGELS, PSYCHO MOTEL, 21GUNS) was hired in for backing vocals and it sounded so good they decided to work together on a long term basis. Early 2001 they started recording the first GREENHOUZE album. It was finished in November 2002. One year later they secured a 3-album contract with MTM MUSIC. The album features 12 tracks which has a huge, updated AOR sound for the 2000’s and beyond. Both the music and the lyrics express urban alienation vs the deep sense of mystic harmony in nature. With this album the Norwegian Rockers have created a unique sound, but at the same time resembles bands as diverse as Pink Floyd, U2, Bad English, Whitesnake, Boston and Mr. Mister! Solli has a voice that goes from melodic and emotional to intense and plain aggressive. Lars Levin combines strong riffs with melodic leads and from time to time an acoustic guitar is in there to. He also plays the lush keyboard landscapes, deep bass guitar as well as singing back up vocals. The drums are handled by Frank Tostrup (Shirley’s Temple) who has written the title
