My Business Idea, Social Networking, Getting my Name out there?

Question by nicholas_sevas_tra: My Business Idea, Social Networking, Getting my Name out there?
Okay, I have been working at opening and developing my own business and label, as well as getting my name out there. I do music, singing, art, novel works, as well as blogs. Below is a rough idea for getting my stuff and name out there, as well as through the social networking and blogging. Just let me know what you all think?

I am trying to streamline it and make it the most effective. I copied this from my Word and it was in bullet format. Youtube is where all my music and fitness videos will be, as well as my art how to’s. Deviantart is where all my art, and other literature will be at. Myspace/facebook/twitter are my friend networking and follower tools, LinkedIn is there for more professional business contacts. Not quite sure if I should keep Digg on there or if I should maybe even add Picasa for photos (along with DeviantArt)

Thanks

Are the pieces there? Sure..everyone knows those pieces. What we here don’t know is whether what is there is good and do you know what what you are doing. Anyone can list the tools they use (how’s this: I am a business consultant and I use Excel, Word, SAS, SPSS, Powerpoint…the list goes on – that doesn’t make me a good business consultant not does it even say how I use them).

Rather than worrying about where you are (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), worry more about what content you are putting there. Ask yourself – why should people be interested in me? Let me ask you this – I have written a song and had it recorded (this is true) – if I told you I had a link to it on my Facebook page, would you care? Probably not and I would not expect you to care. However, if I told you that I had had the song recorded in my home studio (I didn’t) and that my blog had tips on setting up a home studio with recommendations for equipment, etc. and oh yeah, here’s a link to the song recorded at my home studio, would you care more? Probably. Ask yourself first, what is it I am offering to people that will get them interested in me. Then, once I have them interested in me, how can I direct them to DeviantArt, etc. Like advertising, you need to suck them in – a list of tools and “places” doesn’t suck anyone in – content does.

So, think Twitter – minimum daily posts – use Twitter to push your Blog…Blog – who cares about fun facts and recipes – focus on art, music, etc. Link your blog to what you are pushing. Go see an art exhibit somewhere and write about it…find a new group and push them and while you’re doing that, plug your stuff. If I were you, I would make the blog the centerpiece and use FB, Twitter, etc. the support group – to quote Field of Dreams, “Build it and they will come”
