Will the existence of readily accessible open networks lead to a drought in the music industry?

Question by DAN: Will the existence of readily accessible open networks lead to a drought in the music industry?
It seems to me that with programs like LimeWire becoming more and more popular every day, the music industry is bound to make far less money per hit than they did in the past. My question is, will people stop joining the industry and move into some other one such as the corporate world, or teaching, or basically anything but music. Thoughts?

I don’t really think the music industry will stop… I just think the annoying parts of it might. (The Corporate industry might deflate, and give way to actual art.) A true artist is absorbed in the art of the thing… the decrease in profitability just means the “fakers” will be less enticed into this field.

That means: Farewell Brittany, Farewell Christina, Farewell Hanna, Farewell Justin.
