In general, no. A music contract usually pays an artist to submit a certain number of acceptable projects for them within a specific period of time (i.e., 3 albums over 4 years). The artist usually gets an advance against expected sales which of course, can be used to defray expenses. Contracts can vary in the details. It may be part of the contract that a certain producer or songwriter be involved, for instance.
