I have an interview tomorrow with the number two oil company in the US. I currently work for the number 3 oil company in the US. Anyway, the guy who will be interviewing me called and asked for me to bring samples of my writing that I work on at my current job. However, while gathering the info that I will need for the interview I realized that I had signed a confidentiality agreement with my company which prohibits me from showing ANYTHING that I have worked on for them to anybody without authorization. Doing so will be automatic termination. I am not going to bring in the information however I was curious if me not providing the samples due to my contract will stop me from getting the job? Do you think the company that I am interviewing for will respect that or will I go straight to the “do not hire” stack?

A confidentiality agreement is a legally binding document. If the new company does not understand that then they are not worth working for.
