What careers would have bee available to me in literature, since I have 3 conservatory degrees in music? The entire purpose of a college education is to prepare you for your eventual career. If you have the luxury of going to college *just for fun* – then you don’t need to worry about a career, either, do you? There are people that will tell you that you can always write lyrics, etc. – yeah, like we do no have enough of those already. Decide what you want in life, and pursue the education necessary to achieve it.

Added – I disagree about you being able to write for a music mag, or as a reviewer. Those us of who would be most likely to read those articles, could smell a fraud a mile away. We had a local loony soprano here years ago, who used to *review* local concerts. Yes, she could complete a sentence. But she had NO CLUE what the heck she was wrting about; she referred to the tone of a prominent trombonist as “like a d cuddly warthog” (we still tease him). In every concert attended, if she had no clue about how to intelligently express her ideas of the interpretation, she would write about the music having “primal urges”. She was clueless, and and in over her head. You cannot write about something that you do not KNOW, inside out. I write well – but would never consider writing about baseball – I do not know ANYTHING about it.
