Long time ago I watched a movie that I liked but I don’t remember the title. I hope someone can help me with this:
Two guys try to be music-video-producers. They buy themselves a camera and start to make videos, but they’re not good at it. In their first band video they throw paint on a band that is playing (in order to make it look cool, but the ladder one of them is standing on, falls and ruins the shot. Next video is for a famous heavy-metal rock band with big gothic-like artificial scenery created in a studio. But again they fail and the whole scenery is destroyed and the drummer injured. Because they don’t get jobs in the music-business they earn some money with filming an eccentric old millionaires last will. He also wants them to film his funeral when he is dead. So they go to the graveyard, film themselves while playing around with the shovel next to the grave (playing air-guitar on it), filming the black limousines rolling in, then the funeral party and how the rain begins to fall. Later in this movie the heavy-metal band dies by a meteor that falls on their stage and these two happy guys happen to be the owners of their last music video ever filmed. They are not happy with the recording (because it ended in a mess), but they get paid by a tv-channel to be allowed to go on air with it. Being totally broke they got only one VHS-Tape to make a copy, the funeral-video. By mistake they only copy the soundtrack and the funeral-video with the heavy-metal sound goes on air and is celebrated as a prophetic masterpiece of art. (The guitar is starting right at the point, where they play on the shovels and everything else fits perfectly also.)
I googled everything from “music-producers, movie” to “funeral-scene, air-guitar”, I searched for years for this movie but had no success. I hope someone liked it and remembers the title.
