Last January, a Community Assistant in my residence hall told me, my friend, and my boyfriend that he had 4 tickets to Disney World that he got for free through a friend who worked there. He asked us if we wanted to go for spring break, and we did. We bought plane tickets and got a resort. When we got there, it turned out that he didn’t have tickets. Instead, his parents asked us to pay $ 80 each for Universal tickets. We didn’t have that money with us, so we planned to pay him back later. As soon as we returned, and until this very day, he has harassed me non-stop about paying him. Emails, messages, calls, personal visits. He won’t stop. Now he says he’s going to sue me, specifically, for not paying him. The only contract was a verbal, “Yea, whatever.” Does he have a leg to stand on in this? And– can I counter-sue for harassment? Note– I haven’t payed him yet because he had a $ 40 music book of mine that he won’t give back until I pay him. But I want the book back first. Please help

If the tickets came from his parents they would be the ones that would need to sue you not him. However a verbal contract is binding. If you told the parents you would pay for the tickets you should pay them, not him for the tickets. You can sue for harrasment but it’s highly unlikely that you will win.
