My passion is Music & I plan to make it my career. Should I go to Berklee College of Music now or later?

Question by Peter G: My passion is Music & I plan to make it my career. Should I go to Berklee College of Music now or later?
I’ve been accepted at Berklee College of Music in Boston for Fall 2010, but am afraid I might miss out on the “typical” college experience if I go there. I’ve also been accepted at UC-Davis (Techno-Cultural Studies), UC-Santa Cruz (Business), Cal Poly (Econ), U of Wisconsin-Madison (Sociology), U of Arizona (Business), U of Oregon (Business), & U of Washington (Sociology). If I go somewhere other than Berklee for undergrad, I would probably go to Berklee for a 2-year program after college. My career interests are in Music Production, Film Scoring, Song-Writing, Composing – not really looking for a music performance career. I haven’t applied to be a music major at the other schools because I’m not a “traditional” musician and don’t want a conservatory-style program. I’ve always loved sports and was looking forward to going to a school with good sports teams to watch. In Boston, I could follow professional sports teams or those of other schools like Boston College, etc. If anyone can offer some advice, I’d be grateful.

i think you are an intelligent person for you to be accepted in several universities or schools. But if music is really your passion, then pursue it. choose the school that would bring out the best in you regarding your passion for music. As an artist you have your own unique style and you really do not need to be a traditional musician.. I hope this could help you.
