Need some legal advice. We are a small non profit dance group in a small town. we do charge fees but it is just to cover hall hire and costumes we do not take a wage from it. we practice in a dance centre that in our hire contract says they are licenced to play music and sound clips. we have hired our local theatre over 18 years and no-one has mentioned anything however someone in the town is saying we do not have permission to play our music (various including big hits…all songs were cut and shortened) and trying to get us into trouble. we have never recieved a contract or any written terms from the theatre so what possision does this put us in?
Help please..it would be so cruel and pathetic if our group was taken to court…we have over 50 members most under 16 and had 2 full audiences fri and sat, it brings so much to our community.
sorry forgot this was worldwide. we are in uk and as i said we are non profit infact we are in the red so can’t afford a lawyer atm!
