Q&A: How to get out of a sign contract which is a scam? Need help fast!!?

Question by otis j: How to get out of a sign contract which is a scam? Need help fast!!?
Im so stress out right now! I had find out that this so called company to help you become a working actor is a scam name Steve Holmes Talent & Promotion here in Charlotte NC. I had fall into the trick that these con artist does telling people they can make them a star & crap. I had sign a contract with them but find out they were a scam the day after I notice what was written in my contract. What makes it so bad its going through my bank account. In the contract it says I have to make 20 deposit & 12 payments of $ 29 a month, but I knew something is not right about it b/c Im only was suppose to pay $ 199 & I notice at the last moment that’s more than what I was suppose to give them the day after canceling the bull crap contract. Calling him by phone, I try to tell this person of the company (Steve Holmes) I want to get out of my but he’s not even taking this serious, and just saying oh yeah I do it just write a letter, did it & never heard back from him. The good thing I can say is when I talked to him I had recorded him saying he would let me out my contract but I still figure he is lying anyway. Then a friend tells me I should file a civil suit against him, but Im new to that & feel its alot to deal with doing that. Can someone please give me advice to really help me get out of this scam contract I regret signing!! Like is it any other way of dealing with this other than going to court & stopping this fool from getting money out of my bank account?

I’m going to say this upfront. To you and everybody else who reads this. If any company that will “promote talent” asks you for money up front, It. Is. A. Scam. Don’t do anything! But listen to your friend. File a civil suit. And, close down your bank account immediatley. Or this idiot will rob you CLEAN.
