On his real name Radu Lefter, Tony was born on 27 august 1982, in Iasi, Romania. He started his first music lessons at Music School in Roman, on the violin section. He also participated on various national competitions where he managed to obtain nice results. He graduated “Grigore Moisil” informatics high school in Iasi, where he actually work and live. In 2002 he started the composition and musicology courses at “George Enescu” university in Iasi. In 2004 he started to work at United Media Music (K1 studios) where he manages to produces different songs for different artists. The most important names would be: Lavinia, Anda Adam, Andra, Laguna, Double D, Romania, Hora, Groove. The year of graduation, 2006, brought Tony several pleasant surprises and unique chances. In 2006 Lavinia’s song, “Cand noaptea vine” (When the night comes), and Laguna’s song, “As zbura” (I would fly) both produced or co-produced by Tony Ray, gets nominated at MTV Music Awards 2006, for “Best New Act”. That year, Tony started his very own studio in Bucharest, where he continues his job as a composer and producer. 2008 was the year when Tony Ray co-produces Adriana Rusu’s album “Viata merge mai departe” (Life goes on), song that goes on heavy rotation at all the music radios and music televisions in the country.
