Question by cmcgogney: Yahoo Music Engine/Jukebox songs available to a coworker but not to me?!?
A coworker of mine was able to download the new John Mayer album from Yahoo Music Engine/Jukebox, but when I go on to to the engine (with my Unlimited account!) the album is not listed! I searched for both the album name and the artist and was not able to find it. I have experienced problems like this before when I downloaded some music and a later date noticed that it was only streamable.
Two things come to mind. One, Yahoo Music Engine changes the DRM associated with the download at a later date (maybe due to licensing agreements with the artist/label). Two, Yahoo Music Engine filters it’s available library of artists/songs/albums for particular users. Either way I think it is ridiculous and want to know what is going on here!

The availability of songs and albums absolutely can change over time on YMU. So maybe this is what happened. All YMU tracks have to get relicensed monthly, so if DRM was withdrawn for that album, your friend would lose the “right” to listen to it within 1 month.
I agree, DRM issues like this do suck, but blame the record companies, not Yahoo. I can tell you for a fact that the Yahoo Music people do not like having these titles withdrawn any more than you do.
YME does not filter the available library by user with one exception: DRM is managed by country, so users in one country will not necessarily have access to the same tracks as users in other countries. Again, this decision mostly (or totally) comes from the record companies, not Yahoo.
