Why is my MySpace Music Page not on the Unsigned Top Artist Chart?

Question by Jaguar: Why is my MySpace Music Page not on the Unsigned Top Artist Chart?
(Please elect to open the below links in a new window each)

Here is my URL: http://www.myspace.com/aronlyrdmusic

I get roughly 50,000 plays daily, but can’t figure out why I am not in the top 200 for my genre or the Unsigned overall charts. Could someone please shed some light on this for me? Artists have gotten record contracts for getting less MySpace plays than I do, so I am seriously wondering what is going on with the Top Artist Charts. My genre is Alternative (rock). I looked yesterday and the artist at number 200 on the Alternative Rock Top Artist Chart only got 2 plays all day. I am simply baffled by this.

Below are a copied e-mail from my promoter and responses from MySpace in reply to my asking them both about this matter.

“Hey,

That is rather strange. I sent out the industry newsletter that I do to help boost up your plays and it gets set out to around 7,000 people who check artists daily. The five individuals I have worked around the clock for you average about 200+ people an hour, so im going to ballpark and say around 30,000 were from us.”

“Thanks for contacting MySpace.

We’re totally committed to celebrating the best in music, art, and comedy. We get really excited when we discover new talent and get to showcase their work! However, MySpace.com does not release information regarding the methods used for calculating and publishing the Top Artist Charts that appear on the MySpace.com website.”

50,000 plays/ day seems like a really high number

myspace might think you are using something to get all those plays and won’t put you in the charts for that reason. they don’t give anybody the reasons/ means they use to decide who gets on the charts and who don’t

i doubt you’ll get very many other replies in here, contacting myspace is probably your best bet, but you may not get a straight answer or anything that answers your question.

you should try posting in this myspace forum, you may have better luck getting an answer there
