Who else agrees that the English have done a lot for the promotion of black American Music?

Question by stonehudson2002: Who else agrees that the English have done a lot for the promotion of black American Music?
Lennon, McCartney, Jagger, Richards, Beck, Clapton, Page, Plant, the Hollies really focused on black American Music. Howlin’ Wolf, Son House, Robert Johnson. I have met more English and Irish who know more about black Music than black people. I am not talking about rap or hip-hop. Real music, the Blues, Jazz. Mention to these black American kids who Son House, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson were and they will look at you funny.

We were into these artists in the early 60’s. Then thanks to pirate radio we were lucky to be introduced to the Tamla Motown, Stax, Atlantic labels and artists.
I remember going to Blue Beat venues that were held in halls and such like. Black people arranged these. Everyone mixed and the atmosphere was brilliant. Racism never reared it’s head as we didn’t know what it was.
Then it was Ska. Any one who was anyone had the Tighten Up LP. I managed to get a CD of this a few years ago. Brilliant memories for this old Mod/Skinhead girl.
The early groups got some of their songs from records imported from the States and were influential in introducing the youth of Britain to some decent and exiting sounds.
