Which school has a better music business program’ Belmont University or Middle Tennessee State University?I?
Question by Tim H: Which school has a better music business program’ Belmont University or Middle Tennessee State University?I?
I know that both programs are pretty good, but I want to know which is better when it comes to job opportunities. I’m currently a sophomore a Florida State University and I’ll be transferring to one of the two schools next fall. Also, can any Belmont graduates tell me about the environment of the school. I know it’s Christian, but does it have super strict policies and things like that?

MTSU speculates that 70% of its recording industry majors obtain jobs in their field. I could not find information on Belmont’s job placement.
Both universities have good music business programs, but as an out-of-state student, you will be paying $ 2k+ more per semester at Belmont, and $ 9k+ more per semester by the time you are officially in-state. Housing, meal plans, and such are also more expensive at Belmont.
I do not attend Belmont, but I have visited my friends who attend, and from what they have mentioned to me and from I have seen, the environment is not super-strict. The students are just normal college kids. They do have meet a certain amount of “convo” hours which are lectures, community service, and other activities that they must complete in order to graduate. I also think that they have to take a couple of required religion/Christianity classes. However, the university is not as strongly Christian-affiliated as some others.
Internships will play a strong part in job placement after graduation. Belmont is actually in Nashville, and MTSU is in Murfreesboro, which is 30 minutes outside of Nashville. It would probably be easier to find internships in Nashville with Belmont, but you could probably find the same type of internships with MTSU. You would probably just have to commute to Nashville.
