Question by Sheffield: Where do I file a complaint to collect a money related to business contract?
I have a business contract I am entiled to a compensation of a little more than 100K. I am in NJ and other party is in NY. I have been talking and we could not reach an agreement to settle this contract. I hate to do this but there is no other way to settle but asking court. I guess.

My questions are:

where do I file a complaint to collect a money ?
What kind of court should I file a complaint ?
Is this something I have to use a lawyer ? (I hate to use a lawyer.)
Any websit I can be educated ?

I hate to use attorneys too but I believe you should at least consult one. Many states have what is called a Lawyer Referral Service. They not only help you find the type of attorney you need, but you can usually get a free initial consultation with the attorney they refer you to. I would highly recommend that you find out if one exists in the state of New Jersey. With that much money at stake, you need to be well informed before you take action.
