When people DEMAND a response to their “Good Morning”?
Question by Adam: When people DEMAND a response to their “Good Morning”?
An aged man who is a Facility Manager at my company (works as a Manager in file room also look over the building facility) keeps coming to my department every morning LOUDLY and jokingly asking people “Are you working? Are you working?” and said “GOOD MORNING, GOOD MORNING” repeatedly at every cubible. He has no business to get into my Contract Research Dept, don’t know why he keeps being obnoxious here, every morning. Because he is an old man, I don’t want to say anything mean to him.
But I had had enough of his noise especially when demanding a response “good morning” back or he will LOUDLY raise his voice “G O O D M O R N I N G !!! ”
The problem is everyone around here tolerate him real well. They responded and sometimes talked to him, feeding into his disruptive behavior.
Everyday as soon as I hear him around I quickly put a headset over me pretending I am listening to music or with a client on the phone. But he would not quick his fricking LOUD demand.
How should I respond to this person making me look mean? Should I go to HR?

I personally would go to the HR. This man sounds a bit annoying and he is not even in the right place! He needs to quit asking people if they are doing their job and do his.
