What should I start doing NOW if I wnat to focus on music production in the future?

Question by killabee: What should I start doing NOW if I wnat to focus on music production in the future?
I already listen to all sorts of music and I LOVE it. I honestly think music is the love of my life and I cant live without it. I really want a future music production and recording but I feel listening to music now isn’t enough to prepare me. What else should I start doing?

If you are a high school age student (or younger) take music classes at school. I know that my high school offers a music production class that focuses on composing and recording.

You may also want to try getting an internship. Do you know anyone in the music industry? Meeting producers and artists might help you in the future. But remember, “It’s not who you know, it’s who you get to know” -Chris Matthews
