you should have experience as an artist, songwriter or engineer, and be able to conduct the making of an album much like a director does on movies. You should have a deep knowledge of music history as well and former styles, artists, producers, trends, etc. read billboard, rolling stone, source, etc, but don’t watch american idol. ha ha
