What groups of people, in the past, were unable to form a contract due to civil laws?

Question by Shay: What groups of people, in the past, were unable to form a contract due to civil laws?
I am looking for groups of people, besides slaves or women, that could not commit to a contract in the past.

Minors, the mentally incompetent.

In some places the ‘forsworn’ couldn’t be held to a contract. That meant someone who’d already reneged on an oath. The logic was that if you know the persons given word is no good, but you enter into a contract with him anyway, “more fool you”.
