I am an american composer (ASCAP member). I have written two songs (music and lyrics) for a female singer who is in Malaysia. The music will be distributed on Warner Bros Malaysia. We have a verbal agreement at this point that I will retain copyrights to the songs and get 5% of music sales for each song. We are in the process of working up contracts for this. What publishing/composition copyrights should I be concerned with? How should I go about making sure that I am able to obtain and protect my copyrights plus collect my royalties?
