What chance do I have in getting into the Ivy League?
Question by Eric Ma: What chance do I have in getting into the Ivy League?
I live in Ontario Canada. I would like to pursue a college education in the states and I was wondering if I have the qualifications to be accepted.
Here are my qualifications:
-Currently in Grade 12 (average mark in grade 11 is 92)
-Work part time as a Head Lifegaurd/ Deck Supervisor 15 hours a week ( $ 16 an hour)
-I have my own business in which i taught swimming courses over the summer( i made $ 30-60 an hour). Also I recieved a government grant of $ 3000 for owning the business.
-I have 100+ volunteer hours ( science tutor, math tutor, senior retirement home, teacher’s assistant, and music librarian).
– Student council representative, Yearbook club, DECA
executive officer(Business Debate Club), Track and Field, Cross Country Running, Ski Club, the Science Club( President), Junior and Senior Concert Band.
I want to know if I have a good chance in getting into Harvard, Stanford, Yale, or any other ivy leagues. I’d love you help especially if you went to an ivy league school!
I am definitely in the top 10%, maybe even top 5% at my school.
Also I wanna know if ivy leagues like Harvard give out financial aid to students in Canada.

You don’t really give enough information.
In order to get into an Ivy League school, you need the following:
Unweighted GPA of 4.8+ with a weighted GPA over 4.0
Great admissions essay
Good extracurriculars
95% of those admitted are in the top 10% of their graduating classes. 75% of those admitted have an SAT score above 2100 out of 2400. Most have taken honors and AP classes.
With your average grade of 92, I suspect that you are not in the top ten percent of your class. You can get into a very good university — but I think the Ivy League is a stretch for you.
