Question by green_torpedo: What are the top 5 most influencial bands to modern rock and why?
My friend and I had this discussion. What bands/artists have influenced modern rock the most, pioneered the way for other bands, have the most followers, etc.
Personally, I think:
-Green Day (cuz every punk band is following in their footsteps)
-Nirvana (cuz they brought the whole grunge scene out into the open)
-Creed (just cuz their music got ahead of their time so fast, and they sounded really modern when it was still the 90’s)
-Nickelback (cuz Chad Kroeger has discovered and been the producer for a ton of bands)
-Limp Bizkit (cuz Fred Durst did the same as Chad Kroeger, discovered a ton of modern rock bands).
Agree or disagree, I just wanna know what you think.
After seeing a few of these answers, I just want to add that I wasn’t quite sure how to phrase this question, but no one seems to have got what I meant, so basically, I’m not asking for critical views of why “modern rock is too new to have major influences.” and “modern rock all spawned from older rock so that’s its major influence.” Obviously, there aren’t ultimate major influences. But there are some semi-big ones. (btw, yes, I only listen to modern rock–I’m only 15–which explains why my list doesn’t have a lot of the older stuff)
