What are the chances of getting a decent music production/business job?
Question by Stefan: What are the chances of getting a decent music production/business job?
I’m in my 3rd year of trying out different university degrees and I’m not sure it’s what I’m looking for. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of finding a job in music business, production or live sound (I’m still trying to figure out whether this is naive or not). I’m completely willing to go through a college program if it helps. So, if anyone has such a related job, I’d love to know what your life is like: do you like your job? is the pay decent? what are the chances of landing a good career? Thanks in advance!

The entire music production industry is being reshaped by the collapse of the major labels caused by downloading and no one knows what shape the industry will take in a few years. In the mean time, the production part is becoming more and more an amateur profession as most any musician with a Mac and $ 5,000 of other gear can product their own music.
There will be money to be made in music but no one quite knows how at this time.
