Thinkpath was originally founded by Jack Anderson under the name CADCAM Inc in 1977. He was an executive at General Motors who saw the potential for the new emerging CAD technology and decided to start his own company and invested in the first McDonald Douglas CAD system. From there CADCAM started doing CAD work for General Motors and also leasing the use of the CAD system during down time. Ten years later CADCAM merged with an IT Staffing Company to form Thinkpath. We began with project management, design engineering, drafting, detailing, and reverse engineering. The client base began to expand beyond automotive and into aerospace, medical, manufacturing, and the consumer industry. Because of that we also had to diversify our CAD packages and to date we have 20. Because of our array of CAD packages we also offer the service of converting drawings between CAD packages. From here we also began doing technical writing because we could easily convert our CAD drawings into illustrations more cost effectively than graphic artist companies. Cummings was using a graphics artist company to make their sales manuals. They wanted to cut the cost of 0000 to 0000 to produce the same amount of graphics. Because Thinkpath already had their drawings they worked with Cummings and the Six Sigma principles to streamline the efficiency of designing the manuals.
