“So in Love” – Evolution of an original song from concept to production

This is the evolution of my first commercially produced, recorded and released song, “So in Love”. You know, some songwriters lock themselves in their home studios and forcibly extract songs with marathon sessions and plenty of caffeine. Others find a tranquil comforting place and let their creativity simply flow. While every songwriter seems to find that zone where the juices flow best, sometimes tunes just come out of nowhere, when they least expect it. Me? I have to place myself in the latter category. I have tried on many occasions to just sit down and write. But those usually end in failure. Most of my songs seem to occur when Im not even thinking about music. Its usually a simple hook that comes first, and then I add a lyric, even if it makes no sense, in hopes that I can find that melodic tone to set the piece. This song in particular, So in Love, has its roots at the beach; Old Silver beach to be precise, on Massachusetts Cape Cod. There were a few radios playing around me that day but I remember 3 songs in particular that stood out. The Eagles, Tequila Sunrise. Aerosmiths I dont wanna miss a thing and Miley Cyrus 7 things. Eclectic I know, but those are the 3 I remember. It was late in the day and very few people remained on the beach when I got this little musical hook in my head.
